Philips DVP5982 DVD player Unboxing

By admin | Mar 20, 2010

This is a really nice DVD player. Got this for 70 bucks at Circuit City. 1080p upscaling through HDMI, plays Divx and Divx Ultra, USB port for ipods and flash drives, and support for nearly any DVD. I also region unlocked the DVD player, if anyone wants to know how to, message me or comment on the video

does USB Hard Drive(powered or non) playback better than a USB Flash Drive on this play?

The USB bit rate freeze is very annoying.

That’s what I used to think, but the PS3 is not the best Blu-Ray/DVD player. Having a good player is just as important as the TV itself. I can definitely attest that it’s not the best for DVD upconverting. This Philips DVP5982 does a way better job upscaling to 1080p than the PS3; it can look almost as good as HD. What bugs me about this player, though, is that it doesn’t turn on right away or respond to open/close too well. And the menu also takes up like 90% of the screen — very stupid.

Yeah i was using the HQ version but that didn’t change the audio quality

I was using a regular point and shoot camera that I got 5 years ago that is why. There is an HQ video option on the video btw.

Sorry about the inconvenience. I tried researching this DVD player in particular and only very few people seem to have problems. I would suggest you call Philips customer support and if the the DVD player is still under its warranty period then they might fix it for free.

    that was helpful

  20. ApFaqTech March 20, 2010 11:20 pm

    It’s pretty good.

  21. Riddler95 March 20, 2010 11:38 pm

how good is the UpConverting/Upscaling on this DVD Player ?

  22. ApFaqTech March 21, 2010 12:08 am

It’s pretty good, not as good as Blu-ray but its does a decent job of upconverting the signal to high res.

  23. explosiv0 March 21, 2010 12:16 am

how does the upscaled picture look on this player?

  24. tbc93 March 21, 2010 1:07 am

What a prick. I see you had no problem searching for and watching the video. Perhaps you have no life.

  25. tommath March 21, 2010 1:45 am

Wow that is the most amazing thing I have ever seen! – you obviously lead a very exciting life. I bought some toilet paper today.. perhaps i should video myself opening it and placing it on the holder.
