Plays everything it advertises, no hiccups or out of syncs streaming. .avi .divx, .xvid, and .mkv, .wmv, .rmvb HD files over network. The player saw all my network shares and UPNP servers off my Windows XP box no problem. I have my PCs on gigabit wired, but I did also connect to a share on a laptop over on a wireless, no dropouts, worked excellent.
Have not tried extremely high video bitrate files yet (10GB+), although I do feel confident that the limit would be my network bandwidth and not the player. (I don’t use the external USB drive feature.)

I did some extensive research before buying this product. Infact i was torn between, the WD and Asus when i happenned to stumle upon this product.
Since there were only 3 reviews when i purchaed it, I wasnt sure whether to go ahead or not. However, I took the risk and purchased the product.
The GOOD:
The product as such looks nice – kinda sleek and extremely light weight and with a nice remote thats just slightly bigger than the nokia 1100.
The good thing is that they also provide you with the necessary cables to set up the product (not the HDMI cable) and use.
Setting up the product is very easy, whcih can be done in less than 3 mins. The interface is nice and easy to understand with a very responsive remote.
I tried to watch a few blue-ray rips downloaded from the net and they played super smoot, infact I found no probs at all with most video formats I tried. All played very well.
The product is network enabled – that means i could get the player to play movies right off my laptop without connecting any USB or hard-disk. This feature is what I liked the most. Infact setting up the network was super easy. I just had to switch on the laptop and go the network section of the player (which would be connected to the WiFi router). It would begin to access the shaed drive. The only issue here was that the 1080p movies would hang a bit (but I guess thats because of the Wifi router).
The BAD:
The player does not let you go to any specific portion of the movie. The only option is to fast forward at 32x (which is not very fast). So if you end up stoppig the movie or if the player is switched of, the only two options are to start the movie again or fast forward (which i honestly think shuld be called slow forward). I’m not sure if i’m missing out in something here. If someone can tell me how to get this done, it would be great.
I dont know how to upgrade he firmware of the player. There is an option in one of the menus whch says upgrade firmware, but when I clock on that, it says some Image is missing (which is the format of the upgrade file). The user manual no where mentions how or from where to get the latest firmware and the product does not have a website of its own. So till I figure that out, I wont be able to make an product upgrades.
The UGLY:
The product seems to be a copy of the Hisense player. Google Hisense MP800H and you fill find the same product with the Hisense logo on it. But the product sold on Amazon does not have any sich logo which leads me to believe that it is a clone of the Hisense player. So i’m kinda irritated that Amazon doesnt do a check before selling products or before registering sellers. Check out the link of the Hisense player: [...]. This one clearly has the Hisense logo.
To Sum it Up:
Good player, but if I can figure out how to upgrade the firmware and how to go to a specific time of the video, the rating would remain at 3 stars, else it is worth a 4 atleast (would have been 5 if some brand name or logo was there).

First let me say every review is 100% correct. Great quality, light weight and small footprint. Although it appears to be brown in the pictures, it is in fact black, and a good looking unit. As always Amazon comes through again!

Easy setup & play everything, It was just plug and play with my Samsung 40 inch TV, Simple menu selection system for setup and operation.
Delivers excellent quality video from many different file formats. I tried samples of everything I own. I’ve tested videos in mp2, avi (DIVX and XVID) mp4, mkv (h.264), HD-Rmvb and have had perfect playback with all.
Great picture quality on HD content. No problems here related to video, even 1080p content streamed over the LAN play great. I’ve tried all resolutions from webrips thru 1080p bluray rips and all work just fine.if you just want a networking movie player that has a small footprint, quite, speedy interface, and decent interface…this is the one.

the Network Neighbor fuction is just amazing, I have it connected via ethernet thru the wall, attached to a wireless router, which is connected to my PC. and after I have shared-folders set up on my Vista machine, and anything I want to watch in the living room I just share, there it is on my TV through the media streamer. tried a couple of big gigabyte .mkv(1080p) & hd-real videos(720p) [...], guess what, the speed is just fast – no lag at all! & the qulity is amazing via it’s 100% hardware decoding. Yes baby, now i am playing all my Shared Videos/Audio/Pictures on my big 1080p phillips 42″ LCD TV in the living room WITH the remote controll WITHOUT the needs of USB External Device!!!
beside that, this media player also come with UPNP fuction built in, simply follow the user manual, download & install the upnp software (refer the user manual for the download address) & setup the media folder you would like to share at your computer, you are ready to go. BUT unlike the network neighbor fuction, the upnp use the software decoding instead of use the media player’s hardward decoding, so the speed & qulity is kind of limited as you will experience. the interesting things is since it use the soft decoding so in theories, you could play any kind of media files as long as you have the software decoding pack installed!
Other Thoughts: I could see where people would want wireless connectivity which is not available. Also, people without knowledge about networking may find it difficult to set up at first , but I’m sure there are guides online one you could follow. and if you don’t want to mess with networking you can plug a physical usb 2.0 storage device into it, or a thumbdrive; those options are self explanatory.
